It’s pretty easy to guess that the most popular spin off from Archie comics is Josie and the Pussycats. Perhaps even more popular considering how their movie became a cult favorite. And everyone knows their theme song- Josie and the Pussycats, long tails and ears for hats!
That’s why it’s always a treat when the two bands crossover and make some beautiful music together. Here’s a collection of their greatest hits featuring one of the most beloved ships in comic history, really I should rename this the Valchie saga.
Zero to Rock Hero

I think this was one of the big events where it was simply band vs band. You see, Veronica’s party was going haywire until she put the Legendary Rock Hero video game on (totally not based on Guitar Hero. Not at all). Everyone got into it and , head of the company decided to televise the event by pitting the Archies against the Pussycats.
They had been getting along at the party but competitive spirits, egged on by the Cabots and Reggie ensure that rather than bond over their shared talent and love of music, the two bands are determined to outdo the other.
Everyone makes up as is expected but it is such fun to see the different genres and costumes they get into as well as the usual hijinks.
The Archies and Josie and the Pussycats

The title should really be Archie and Valerie and the Pussycats because that’s the main event. With the Archies headlining the Pussycats’ latest tour, the two bands get together to make some rocking original songs.
And with Archie and Valerie being the two most dedicated songwriters, they stay later hours. It’s inevitable they get to talking, they get to flirting and bam! Can’t you feel the love tonight is singing through the air.
Fans ate it up in the real world but in the Archie world, Val and Archie can’t quite handle all the media attention (and Alexander’s publicity machinatios) and different touring schedules. Though it’s a sad parting, it is only the beginning of their story that we all will eagerly follow in the coming years.
Simon vs J.Lo

This fun story featuring celebrity cameos in the form of Simon Cowell and J.Lo, the two respective hosts of America’s got Talent and the X Factor at the time. Clearly, Archie comics got a lot of mileage using the two most popular talent shows of the decade but not as much as in comic’s reality tv screens that were determined to stir up more relationship drama for Archie and Valerie to get better ratings. It’s entertaining and so nostalgia-inducing now.
A Rock n Roll Romance

Much as the Archie Marries. . . event made fans dreams come true to see Archie marrying Veronica/Betty and how their lives unfolded, now it’s Archie and Val’s turn. Valerie takes a trip down the lane as she tries to get some space to think about the logistics and difficulties of their relationship.
Here it’s such a treat to not only see their romance but also how the love between Trev and Betty blooms. And Veronica, tired of being pushed aside, gets her time in the spotlight as the new bassists for the Pussycats when Valerie leaves.
There’s also the most adorable baby ever when Star comes to the scene (I’m so glad they were a little more creative this time around than another Little Archie/Betty/Veronica or in this case Little Valerie). It also deals with real concerns of long distance relationships, having a child in the spotlight, and celebrity privacy.
Rockin’ the World

Things come back to the present as the Pussycats and the Archies have another tour (as equal headliners this time) around the world! India, Australia, Canada, and China. Archie delievers the educational bits between the juicy drama we come to love.
Not only does Archie’s “player” past come to bite him when Valerie suspects his head is turned by Bollywood star Amisha, but Cheryl and Alexandra briefly team up to turn Raj’s documentary to the Blossom-Cabot show and Betty even takes the stage with her band on the Great Wall of China.
Plus there’s such highlights like Katy Keene, Celine Dion, the Mad-Ads and other bands who are part of the tour. Unfortunately we don’t get much interaction between cousins, Bingo and Jughead, maybe that will be a separate story onto itself. Anyway, this is my favorite of the crossovers that has everything you could want, music, love, travel and everything Archie.
