Celeb-inspired mysteries

Now I’m not talking about books written by celebrities but books where these celebrities solve mysteries in their every-day lives. Like these below.

And yes, it is always mysteries. I can understand the appeal, celebrities have the chance to go to exotic locales, meet varied and interesting people and have the star power that makes them immune to such things as paying and others. Not to mention as part of the Hollywood glamour, there’s always unsavory individuals who want more money or fame or whatever and try to leech off them.

But now that I’m older, is it a bit weird to use these real people as stand-ins for some original detective character? Is there a particular reason we want to imagine celebrities to solve crimes during their time, does it make us feel better to thik they’re doing good in the world beside making movies? Or is it more likely just commercialization and using their brand name to sell more books.

Probably the latter but what do you think? Comment below.
